Travel Tips

General Information

What to bring
  • Insect repellent *
  • Sunscreen
  • Enough cash to cover accommodation, activities and transport (there are no banks or EFTPOS facilities in the village)
  • Snack-food, apart from fruit, isn't readily available in the village, so guests are advised to bring their own.
  • For rainy days and extra hot days (Vanuatu has a tropical climate), bringing a book to read might be a good idea.
  • In the cool season (May to October), a jumper and long pants might be handy for the evenings.
  • For bush-walks and garden tours 'walking shoes' of some kind are advised.
  • For snorkelling, reef shoes would be handy but not essential.
* It is advisable to take anti malarials when travelling outside of Port Vila. Check with your doctor.
Respecting local culture
Paunangisu is a traditional village. Please respect local culture by wearing appropriate clothing and swimming attire. For women this means knee length dresses and shorts with modest blouses. Ni-Vanuatu women typically swim in long shorts and T-shirts or sarongs.

Telecommunications
Both Digicel and TVL operate in North Efate although coverage can be unreliable. There is no TV or internet access in the village.
